A differnet opportunity is to combine a visit to the Eagle Festival and a trip to the Altai TavanBogd national park or to the KhotonKhurgan lakes. This trip would take about 3 day depending on the number of guests.
In the end of September and in the beginning of October, it becomes impossible to stay in a tent for more than two or three days in the Altai TavanBogd mountainous area because of extreme tempterature that is why we usually go from Ulgii to Altai TavanBogd either through Tsagaan-Gol or through the Oigor river valley which takes a day and from the park entrance, we will go to the Base camp of TavanBogd on foot or on horsebacks. The whole trip takes about 3 days.
Day 1; Our representatives wait for you at the Ulaanbaatar airport, and after hotel check- in, we will take you on a sightseeing tour and you will be invited to a welcoming dinner. (Hotel)
Day 2; Your next flight. You will fly to Ulgii City, in the Bayan –Ulgii Province in Western Mongolia and the flights mostly takes about 3hours maximum depending on weather. At the local airport you will meet our English-speaking guide, driver and the cook. Overnight accommodations will be our Ger Camp or you have a choice for local Hotel( Ger/Hotel//L/D)
Day 3; Drive to Oigor River valley, outside Ulgii, where we will visit a Kazakh nomadic family on the way. And the drive is about 6 hours and overnight accommodations will in tent or with one of Kazakh families. (Ger/Tent//B/L/D)
Day 4 Hike to the TavanBogd Base Camp for approximately five hours. The landscape around the base is breathtaking, accentuated by Mongolia’s longest glaciers and snow-capped mountains. Overnight accommodations will be in our own tents ( Tent/B/L/D)
Day 5 Climbing to Malchin Peak
Morning early after breakfast we will start slowly walking for about an hour and then start climbing to Malchin Peak (4050 m), which is on the Mongolian side of the Russian border. Malchin Peak is the lowest of the Holy Five Peaks. It takes 6 to 7 hours to climb to the top of Malchin. Most of the climbs will be on rocks, then back to camp to relax. (Tent/B/L/D)
Day 6 Return to the White River (Tsagaangol Valley)
Hiking back to our camp in the TsagaanGol Valley. In the evening, we will have the opportunity to visit (Mongolian ethnic group)Tuvian families and share their culture and lifestyle. (Tent/B/L/D)
Day 7 Return to Ulgii
We will say goodbye to our Tuvian friends and take the 7 hour drive back to Ulgii. On the way we will visit with the Kazakh Eagle Hunters. Alternatively you can spend the night in hotel. (Hotel/B/L/D)
Day 8-9 Golden Eagle Festival
Golden Eagle Festival mostly continue 2days. These two days we will attend the Golden Eagle Festival. Festivities begin with the hunters parade, displaying their hunting outfits, accessories and traditional dress, and includes competitions between the hunters and their eagles, demonstrating the special relationship between the trainer and his bird. Watch first-hand as the hunters pamper their birds and cheer for them during the competitions. Overnight accommodations will be the Ger Camp or hotel. (Hotel/Ger/B/L/D).
Day 10 In the morning we get the return flight to UlaanBaatar. Upon arrival transport to your hotel. Free afternoon for shopping ( Hotel/B/L/D)
Day 11 Departure from UlaanBataar Airport.
