Day 1

You will fly to Ulgii City, in the Bayan-Ulgii province of Western Mongolia. The majority of the population of this region is Kazakh, with their own culture and own language. At the local airport, you’ll meet your English-speaking guide, driver and expedition cook. Today we’ll drive to Dayan Lake, on the way we will see the ancient Deer Stones and Balbal Stones, 6^th to 8th century Turkish burial markers. And before dinner we will catch up with our Nomadic Kazakh family. We will stay overnight in a Kazakh Ger, sharing with Kazakh family.  (/L. D) 150km

Day 2

Spend a day around the lake Dayan. The landscape around the lakes is stunning, with forests and snow-capped mountains. You can try fly fishing around the lake (Tent/B/L/D)

Day 3

Today we’ll drive to Khoton and Khurgan  Lakes, stopping for lunch on the way, and spending the night at the camping site on Biluut Hill.  Here you will find ancient rock carvings of Turkic origin, 1500-2000 years old. Khoton and Khurgan lakes are second largest and clearest of all lakes in Mongolia, the average depth is 26 m, the maximum depth is approximately 58 m, Khoton lake has one Iceland which is covered by woods, the system of Khoton lake and Khurgan lakes connected by wide channel. The landscape around the lakes is very beautiful and picturesque surrounded by snow-capped mountains. 90km (Tent /B/L/D)

Day 4  

Drive to White River Valley. We will have a chance to visit Tuvan people, who are a separate ethnic and cultural group within Mongolia, live a nomadic life, and practice Shamanism. About 200km (Tent /B/L/D)

 Day 5   

Today we will hike 18km to the base camp of the Tavan Bogd. Our luggage will be transported by camels and their Tuvan handlers who are very friendly and helpful. En route, from 5-6 km away we will see Potanin and Alexander Glaciers, as well as ice peaks. Base camp is 3,000 meters above sea level. Camel support. (Tent /B/L/D)

 Day 6

Climb to Malchin Peak, 4050 m. This peak, the lowest of the Holy Five Peaks, is on the Mongolia and Russian border. The climb takes 6 to 7 hours, all the way to the top of Malchin. Back in camp after the climb, we’ll relax! (Tent /B, L, D)

 Day 7

Free day. Take a rest and enjoy with wonderful Mountain View and Glacier exploration. It is possible to hike to Russian and Mongolian number 1 border pole. 

 Day 8

Hike north to Oigor River. Passenger cars arrive from White River valley. Camel support. (Tent /B/L/D)

Day 9

We are drive back to Olgii. Afternoon do some arts and crafts shopping. Overnight at company’s ger camp or your hotel (Ger or Hotel/B/L/D)

Day 10

Return flight to Ulaanbaatar. (Hotel/B)

Day 11 Departure

Transfer to airport for your return flight home. (B)

This tour has elements of adventure and sport hiking. If you are fit enough and health allows hiking 18km and climbing up to mountain which is 4063meters above sea level, this trip is for you. You also have a chance to directly chat our manager to plan your individual tour

Accommodation

Twin or king size bedrooms in local hotels or Kazakh yurt in our Ger camp for a choice, with all needs met for comfort staying. Up to the basecamp in the mountain, stay in the tent, provided by our company.

Meals

In Ulgii city, you have choice between restaurants with traditional Kazakh dishes, traditional Mongolian dishes, European and Turkish dishes. Everyday different taste. When you are in the countryside or a festival site, our high skilled expedition chiefs are eager to cook your meals in place.  If you are vegetarian or on a diet by your physician, restricted from some kinds of foods and beverages because of your health problems, just let us know about it. We choose and make a food specially for you.

Tour vehicles

This tour includes round-trip tickets to Ulgii and back. Regards to transport inside a province, rigid axle four-wheel drive vehicles such as Russian made jeep UAZ 469, Russian made van UAZ 452 furgon, Japanese Landcruisers are used because of road condition and vast area of mountain ranges. We provide in accordance with group members and complexity of trip itself, Russian vans and Toyota Landcruisers for traveler and another van for luggage and cooking staff.

Actual travelling season in Western Mongolia is from June to second half of October.

Also, some specifically designed trips are organized during winter. The climate in mountainous area is   very changeable.  Up in the mountains you might see four seasons could change in one day. If you are hiking mountains area, take that in mind and pack your warmest clothes. Mountain climbing trips are made possible only when weather allows you. This is what we say force major. The luggage weight allowed by local air company is 15 kg per person. The luggage exceeding this weight is stated as excess luggage and paid separately.
