Khovsgol Lake and Central Mongolia Adventures
TOUR OVERVIEW
Travel to the northern Mongolia; popular for its high mountain, beautiful river, thick forest and crystal clear Khovsgol lake. This tour is an excellent choice for those looking for typical Mongolian look and leisure time in beautiful nature. A highlight of this trip is discovering lake Khuvsgul and reindeer herder people living there. You will also enjoy discovering best attractions along the way including the ancient capital city Karakorum, first Buddhist- Erdenezuu monastery, Khorgo volcano and Khorgo Terkh national park.

DAY 0: ARRIVAL IN ULAANBAATAR & CITY TOUR
Upon arrival at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport you will met by our personal and check in your hotel. Leisure time on your own. Hotel is not included in the package.
DAY 1: TRAVERSE KARAKORUM RUINS AND ERDENE ZUU MONASTERY (350KM-6 HOURS) (L,D)
Today we will drive to Karakorum, the site of the 13th century Mongolian capital. Visit Karakorum museum and learn about the Great Mongol state period, Stone Age, Bronze Age, Ancient states. Take a tour through the ancient city before moving on the beautiful ruins of Erdene Zuu Monastery. Surrounded by huge 400m x 400m walls built from the ruins of Karakorum, the Erdenezuu was the first and the biggest Buddhist monastery of the 16th century. Overnight in tourist camp(2 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 2: HIKING TO KHORGO VOLCANO (300KM-6 HOURS) (B,L,D)
Traverse through the dramatic Chuluut gorge, surrender to a fascinating view of the river flows through 50m steep trap gorge. Travel to Khorgo volcano and marvel at the mind blowing lunar-like lavas field with a stunning hike to the cone along stone stairs. Have breathtaking view over the lava and lake. Overnight in tourist camp(2 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 3: WHITE LAKE (B,L,D)
Enjoy another day in White Lake, formed by lava flows from volcanic eruptions and displaying some lava creature made by man. Enjoy hiking and short horse riding along the shore of the breathtaking lake. Take the time to watch the amazing bird life that fills the lake with sound and color. Overnight in tourist Ger camp (2 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 4: HOT SPRING AT JARGAL JIGUUR (100KM – 4 HOURS)(B,L,D)
We will drive to Northern Mongolia, forest Taiga zone through High Mountain passes. Today we will stay at Jargal jiguur tourist camp and enjoy natural hot spring. Overnight in tourist Ger camp (2 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 5: LAKE KHOVSGOL (310km-6 HOURS) (B, L,D)
Travel to the lake Khovsgol; with clear crystal water contains about 1.5% of the world’s fresh water. The lake is surrounded by high mountain chains, thick pine forests and rich in wildlife. Overnight in tourist Ger camp (2 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 6: LAKE KHOVSGOL – HIKE TO REINDEER FAMILY THROUGH FOREST & ENJOY MOTORBOATING (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we will hike to the reindeer herder family; who make their summer home in the lake area and visit their traditional house- teepee and learn from their culture. After lunch, embark on the motor-boat, navigate the lake and visit one of four fascinating islands. Overnight in tourist Ger camp (2 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 7: DORMANT VOLCANO URAN (420 KM – 7.5 HOURS)(B,L,D)
Leaving the lake Khovsgol, we will continue the tour to volcano Uran. It is a dormant volcano rich in fauna and flora. Hike to the crater through larch forest and see small lake in the bottom of crater. Overnight in tourist Ger camp (2 to 4 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 8: MONASTERY AMARBAYASGALANT (250 KM – 5 HOURS)(B,L,D)
Head to one of the biggest three Buddhist monastery called Amarbayasgalant. The monastery built for the first Mongolia’s religious leader Zanabazar in the 18th century and was partly damaged during the communist purge but restoration work has brought the monastery back to something like its former glory. Visit the monastery and learn from the Buddhist culture. Overnight in tourist Ger camp (2 to 4 people share Yurt with single beds, shower/bathroom in a separate building).
DAY 9: RETURN TO UB (360 KM – 6 HOURS) (B,L)
We head back to Ulaanbaatar. Once back in UB you will be transferred to hotel you booked.
